Data is the lifeblood of modern business. Losing it can be catastrophic. A robust backup strategy is your insurance policy against disaster.
The 3-2-1 Rule
The gold standard for backups is the 3-2-1 rule:
• 3 copies of your data
• 2 different media types (e.g., local server + external drive)
• 1 copy offsite (cloud)
Cloud vs. Local
Local backups are fast to restore but vulnerable to physical disasters like fire or flood. Cloud backups are slower but safe from local disasters. A hybrid approach using both is usually the best solution for small to medium businesses.
